The so-called "Rome port" is in Civitavecchia, Italy.  Civitavecchia piers are about 1.5 hours from Rome or the Rome airports. 

On cruise ship port days, the town is crowded with 2000 passengers from each cruise ship. Often there are 4 or more ships in the harbor.

Taxis are non-existent as is Civitavecchia car hire.  The train station is about 2 miles away.  The dock is 1 mile inside the port's security gate  

Our company has special permits to enter the port complex and drive you to your ship's gangway check-in line.
